Someone asked me the other day why I don’t often write about food. Why, as a nutrition and positive body coach, I don’t share recipes and food facts?

And without skipping a beat, I responded by saying…because being healthy, feeling good, looking fit and having inner strength isn’t only about food.

Everyone is so caught up in what to eat..

  • Is this food good/bad?
  • Will it make me fat?

That they forget that in order to feel those things everyone desires we need to be fully nourished!

You see nourishment is a mind & body experience.

Nutrition comes on your plate.

We find nourishment in experiences, conversation, sunshine, music, dance, sex, relationships, inspiring careers, meaningful spiritual practices, etc.

Primary foods, or as I like to call them, FOOD FOR YOUR SOUL, feeds us, but they don’t come on a plate.

As children, we all lived on primary food. The same as when we’re deeply in love, or working passionately on a project.

The fun, excitement and love of daily life has the power to feed us so that food becomes secondary.

The more primary food we receive, the less is we depend on secondary foods.

The opposite is also true. The more we fill ourselves with secondary foods, the less we are able to receive the primary foods of life.

You see that is why I am often writing about primary foods and not kale!

I’ve seen too many people get caught up, even obsessed, in the secondary foods they neglect how nourishing life can be!

When I stopped worrying about what was on my plate and I gave myself permission to enjoy food and MY LIFE my body transformed.

We were FINALLY on the same page!

Don’t worry if you feel disconnected to what is actually nourishing you…I’ve got you covered!

In most spiritual traditions people are  encouraged to fast so that they can reduce their dependance on secondary foods, allowing them to find a greater awareness of primary food.

Remember…when you’re taking in your primary foods, your body actually absorbs those important vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals from what’s on your plate.
